Help babies play, because play matters. Here are some age appropriate activities that will stimulate and help develop your baby:
Rhyming games: Round and Round the Garden, Incy Wincy Spider, This Little Piggy, Heads and Shoulders, Knees and Toes, Peek-a-boo
Singing Songs: Nursery Rhymes
Tummy time is vital
Mirror - Make sure you have a Mirror in the car and in their room to play with. Visit Luca Mirror
Funny noises
Rolling/Passing a ball
Pushing a car
Passing toys to each other
Covering toys and finding them again
Turn-taking games with toys
Activity centre
Blocks
Boxes – stacking, hiding etc.
Simple musical instruments - anything simple that makes noise
Copying what he sees adults doing ie. Cup on a saucer
Can give basic instructions or say what he is doing ‘putting the peg in the box’
Use short simple sentences
Make lots of noises to go with objects or actions
Name what he is looking at or playing with
Follow his focus of attention
Books - Ready books... this is a must
Tapping your feet on the floor and eventually, they try and mimic
Massage - Baby massage is always nice and they love them
Talk to your baby
Exercise time as per gymbaroo; rocking, jiggling, swishing, rolling, twirling
