NICOLE PIEROTTI
Registered Psychologist
With over 30 years of experience as a psychologist, I am the Director and founder of City Psychology, a small niche group practice I established after more than two decades in solo private practice. My passion is helping children and parents navigate the challenges parenting brings.

Whether you’re facing perinatal anxiety, postnatal depression, sleep challenges with a newborn, or the broader demands of parenthood, I am here to help. I tailor strategies to suit your parenting style. Parents tell me how pleasantly surprised they are with the sessions, given that they were nervous about attending and asking for help. Whether you are after strategies and ideas about parenting, routines, child sleep, or you simply want to feel listened to, validated and understood on your parenting journey, I am here (as both a professional and a mother) to help and empathise and to give your strategies to put you on a different path. Bring your parenting questions, both big and small.

I have a special interest in baby and toddler sleep and love to educate parents about sleep-related topics such as signs of tiredness, sleep cues, sleep cycles, and how to ensure you and your baby get quality sleep. My extensive knowledge in this area has been distilled into straightforward, practical advice in my book, BabyCare: Caring for Your Baby Birth to Six Months. After many requests from parents for another book, I compiled my knowledge on effective toilet training into my second book Toilet Training: No More Nappies.

My other interest is working with children and teens with anxiety. So if your child is anxious about bedtime, has specific fears, intrusive thoughts, grief, or is struggling with big emotions I can give them the tools they need to overcome these challenges. Young children bring joy and I love to work with them. As children play and create we talk about anxiety, big emotions, grief, managing change, challenging situations and family dynamics. I also provide their parents with practical tools to help at home and at school.

Teenagers present their own unique set of challenges, from fitting in and managing friendships to academic pressures and self-confidence. I enjoy the challenge of helping young people increase their self-awareness and shift their thought patterns. Essential skills such as setting boundaries and discerning stable versus unreliable friendships are often crucial, particularly for those dealing with anxiety and depression. Navigating family relationships is also an important aspect of my work with teens.

I also do one on one sessions with parents from a parenting point of view or for general psychology strategies to navigate the stressors and difficulties of life and work. It is a privilege to do the work I do. I am here to support you and your family as you journey through life’s ups and downs.

HELEN MERRY

Registered Psychologist
Certified Clinical Play Therapist
Certified LEGO Based Therapy Facilitator
Helen has been working as a Psychologist since 1993 (with some breaks here and there for parenthood). Helen's early career focussed on working with children with developmental disorders, in particular ASD. Since qualifying as a Certified Clinical Play Therapist in 2012 my work has largely focussed on the use of expressive therapies (such as play therapy, sand tray, and narrative therapy) to support children and adolescents between the ages of 3 - 16 who are finding it difficult to navigate big thoughts, big feelings and significant life events. Helen has a particular interest in working with young people who have experiences of trauma, anxiety, grief and loss, bullying, and difficulties with attachment and the regulation of their emotions.

Child-Centred Play Therapy is suited to children from the ages of 3 - 10. Given its focus on the use of play it is also well-suited to children with hearing and language impairments.

As a registered Clinical Psychologist, I am committed to providing quality psychological support. I have a Bachelor of Social Science (Psychology) with Honours and a Masters of Psychology (Clinical). I've been a registered psychologist since 2014. I specialise in assisting adults navigating a spectrum of mood-related difficulties and life challenges. Every individual brings a unique narrative, a set of experiences, and personal goals. My role is to provide a space where these stories are heard, understood, and nurtured.

After many fulfilling years on the Gold Coast, I settled in the beautiful landscapes of southwest Queensland. Recognising the unique needs of those in rural areas, I've tailored my services to offer telehealth, ensuring accessibility and support for all, regardless of location.
I have an integrative approach, where I combine the principles of Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (including principles of DBT/mindfulness), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and EMDR to offer holistic and tailored care. This is complemented by building individual strengths, fostering insights into unseen influences, and honing practical problem-solving skills through a solution-based focus.

I hold a special interest in women's health, late-diagnosed adult neurodiversity, and creating safety to heal from the various forms of trauma. I believe in the transformative power of understanding one's past, to shape a healthier present and future. Therapy, for me, is more than just techniques and modalities. It's about genuine connection, understanding, and walking alongside you as you navigate the complexities of life. I invite you connect with me when you are ready. I am happy to see LGBTQI+ and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander persons.
